Yes - in order to be notified of a new message or a message that has been replied to you - you must insure you are subscribed to the forum or thread. In order to do this there is a "Subscribe" button at the top right hand corner of each relevent box on the forum or relevant thread, which if you click, will mean you are monitoring that thread or forum.
