BOPA Webinars – Call for Volunteers!

Following the first BOPA Webinar last month, BOPA are looking for volunteers to present future webinars. The first Webinar, presented by Fiona MacLean on Lung Cancer,is now available on the BOPA eLearning site(www.bopalearning.com). This was a resounding success and BOPA hope to follow up with a series of educational webinars each month. A ‘Speaker Guide’ has been produced detailing what is required of you and what you can expect from BOPA in return. If you are interested in presenting a webinar or have a topic that you would like to hear please contact Simon Purcell on simon.purcell@nhs.net. BOPA will pay a fee of £150 per webinar.

BOPA is delighted to announce its first ever educational webinar, to be hosted by Fiona Maclean (MRPharmS, MSc, IPres), Lead Clinical Pharmacist, Regional Services Directorate - Cancer South & Clyde, and Neurosciences). The topic of the Webinar is Lung Cancer and will build on the eLearning module available to BOPA members on the eLearning website.

National bowel cancer campaign: Pharmacy factsheet

“A national campaign will launch in England on January 30 to raise awareness of the symptoms of bowel cancer, and encourage people with symptoms to visit their GP. The Department, with Cancer Research UK, has developed a Pharmacy factsheet in advance of the launch of the campaign, to support pharmacists and their teams with information about bowel cancer and how they can prepare for the possible increase in the number of customers asking questions about bowel cancer or presenting with the relevant symptoms or purchasing relevant over-the-counter medicines.  This factsheet has been written with the input of pharmacy representatives.
