To all the candidates who applied to our Bursary Scheme,

Judging is complete and we have notified those who are successful and those who are unsuccessful today, you will receive an email from BOPA@whyhealth.com.  If you have not had an email please contact BOPA@whyhealth.com asap, we are using the email address you submitted on your form. Thank you all for applying we had a large number of brilliant entries and BOPA is proud to have dedicated members who continually promote excellence in the pharmaceutical care of patients with cancer through education, communication, research, and innovation.

The judging was based upon
  • Why attending ASCO 2018 would benefit you
  • Benefits to the wider BOPA community of you attending
  • Your ideas for the dissemination of scientific data
  • Your enthusiasm for participating in the ongoing education of yourself and others
  • Your personal interest in developing digital education

All applicants were scored independently by 6 judges (all fellow BOPA members), scores were ranked and from those we were able to offer some places upfront to candidates who scored 50 and above and confirm that candidates who scored less than 40 were unsuccessful this year (there is always next year),
Those candidates who scored between 40 and 50 have been entered into a tie break. Everyone now has to confirm that they have the leave and can attend ASCO on 31st May - 5th June 2018 before entering the tie break.
We plan to have two or three reserve candidates who will be on standby in case one of the successfully candidates has to pull out due to exceptional circumstances.
BOPA is investing well over £2,000 per individual in ASCO costs so we have to be strict and judge’s decisions are final.   Once ASCO is completed we will be happy to review and take feedback on the application process before next year.  Remember the we all have day jobs like you so are doing this in our spare time and are constantly learning.
Take Care
