Royal Pharmaceutical Society
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is the dedicated professional body for pharmacists and pharmacy in England, Scotland and Wales providing leadership, support and development to its members. It is the biggest individual pharmacist member organisation in Great Britain.
The Society ensures the voice of the profession is heard and actively promoted in the development and delivery of healthcare policy and works to raise the profile of the profession. It is the only body which represents all sectors of pharmacy in Great Britain.
Its mission is:
- To be member driven offering the leadership, support and development that its members’ need to fulfil their potential
- To address the issues that are important to its members’ to enhance their job satisfaction and professional rewards
- To ensure that the voice of the pharmacy profession is heard and actively promoted in the development and delivery of healthcare policy, and that the vital contribution of pharmacy to patient and public health is widely recognised and acknowledged
- To increase the recognition that pharmacists enjoy as valued partners with the NHS and wider society and ensure that they are positioned and trusted as the experts in medicines
- To lead and promote the advancement of science, practice and education in pharmacy in order to shape and influence the future delivery of pharmacy driven services
The Society aims to achieve this mission through working with partners both within the profession as well as from other health professions.
Strategic Partnership
The RPS works with BOPA in a strategic partnership to develop and deliver increased recognition for pharmacists in the NHS and wider society. Through an effective partnership, both organizations are working together to lead, advocate, speak knowledgably at policy forums, and celebrate good practice on behalf of the pharmacy profession.
