BOPA Bursary Scheme ProposalOne of the key roles of the British Oncology Pharmaceutical Association (BOPA) is to support its members to keep up to date with medical and pharmaceutical advances through continued education, scientific exchange and knowledge dissemination.
BOPA has achieved this by acting as an education provider, with an annual symposium, one off study days and an e-learning website. However, BOPA recognises the difficulties faced by some of its individual members in attending oncology and haematology clinical conferences and other relevant education events; due to lack of NHS study leave funding for pharmacists and increasing difficulty in accessing individual sponsorship directly from the pharmaceutical industry.
BOPA will has therefore created an educational bursary fund, which will receive contributions from BOPA funds and from the pharmaceutical industry as sponsorship or an unrestricted educational grants. BOPA will administer the bursary fund and use it to fund individual BOPA members via the bursary application process.
